If someone posting on a message board that a team might play with you, could beat you is trash talking, then first off, I think we're all guilty of trash talking and second off, if supposed trash talking is what it takes to motivate your team to win, you're probably in trouble later on. What are you going to do later when you start up in the playoffs and can't find the message board from the schools you're playing, lose because nobody is motivating you.
There is a huge difference between saying something, even picking against a team, than trash talking. If Norton was running a score up due to something said on a message board, then shoot, wait some of you predicted Burton so bad and trash talked Clintwood, maybe Clintwood should take that personally and try to embarass or hurt Burton. Anybody seeing the point? Probably not because its more fun to try and act like there is some disrespect going. The Clintwood staff and players and actually the Norton staff and players have a pretty good respect for the other program. Coach Adams is no doubt going to work with his team on this game like he does every other game, preparing the same, focusing on the fact that Clintwood has improved and needs/wants the win. Right now, the old if it ain't broke, don't fix it. Coach Mullins is no doubt going work with his team on this game like he does every game, preparing the same, focusing on the fact that Norton is undefeated and wants to keep winning. His team knows they are the underdogs and have to step it up quite a bit to win. Is either coach thinking the other team is going to lay down? Heck no. Is a player on either team thinking the other teams players are going to lay down? Heck no. Are players from either team concerned what a bunch of people who aren't on the field predict, one way or the other? They sure shouldn't be. If it takes some people from Clintwood saying that Clintwood could play with them to motivate Burton, does it make them lazy when the majority say that they should roll over Clintwood? I mean you can't have it one way and not the other people. If talk can motivate you, it sure can make you lazy too and turning it around, wouldn't all the talk of blowouts motivate Clintwood or does anti-talk just work for Burton and not for another team? Heck does all the talk from some people how Clinwood wouldn't play with them , make them lazy? Again, talk can't just work one way. Its funny, noticed that over the years how people try to use comments like that. For example GCBrickBoy says "we'll beat PV by 35 this year they arent that good". PVRooster head says "Oh you're motivating PV with those comments, hahahah" Of course PVRooster forgets that they posted earlier in the day that PV should beat GC handily. Don't think they that those comments from them could just as easily be turned about GCBrickBoy as comments to motivate GC? Of course not, because they end up so closed off in their thinking, they can't see the other side of it.

Hey if Burrhead posting Clintwood can win or Greencrest sayings its just Burton motivates Norton, more power to them. I guess the predictions of Burton by 35 or whatever or the comments about starting offenses can't score on Burton motivates Clintwood. What, you mean it can work both ways! Like was said, the comments on here 95% of the time are from people not in the game, and if the comments are used to motivate a team, its normally a bunch of us old timers going up to them and saying "they're talking a bunch of trash about you on the forum"...and most of the kids as soon as wander off go "big freaking deal, you guys who aren't involved keep talking, we'll play football"
